Pilates and sports massage
Rebecca Gould offers both group and one-to-one Pilates classes, and sports massage therapy, in Burgess Hill, Lewes, Haywards Heath, Brighton and Ditchling.
The great thing about Pilates is it caters for everyone, for many different physical needs and for people of all ages. It can be practiced to aid rehabilitation from injury and to help avoid injury in the future, for pre- and post-natal women, and it can also be used by the more active to improve all round sports performance.
Pilates is all about balancing the body. It uses exercises that work on strength and stability, as well as freedom of movement and flexibility, so the body works in the best possible way.
Pilates is a unique, low-impact, stretching and conditioning, complete body workout – that also helps you to develop an awareness of how your body works, helping your mind and body to work in harmony.
Sports massage is an effective therapy to help relieve muscle and soft tissue stress, strain, and tension. It restores balance to the muscular skeletal system, relieving postural imbalances, chronic pain, preventing injury, and aiding rehabilitation.
Sports massage is designed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training.
But you don't need to be a sports person to benefit from it, as stress and bad postural habits can also cause muscle tension in the back, neck, and shoulders.
Combining sports massage with Pilates aids restoration of a range of movement to tight and injured areas achieving a healthy balanced body. The soft tissue work in a sports massage can release tension, restriction, and pain. After releasing the tension around the injured area Pilates can re-educate the body creating a new muscle memory or correcting postural habits, preventing the injury from happening again.
